Into Eternity Post New Guitar Lesson Online

Currently performing on MEGADETH's Gigantour 2006, Canada's technically aggressive metal band INTO ETERNITY has posted its third YouTube guitar lesson at this location. The new lesson, a guide to playing the rhythm guitar parts from their new song "Nothing", is as entertaining as it is instructional. The song is taken from the band's upcoming album, "The Scattering of Ashes", which is scheduled for release on October 3 via Century Media Records. The follow-up to 2004's "Buried in Oblivion", which was was mixed and mastered by Andy Sneap (KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, ARCH ENEMY), marks the group's first release with vocalist Stu Block, who was previously a member of Vancouver's OMEGA CROM. Madonna Guitar to Be Auctioned

A Gibson Les Paul custom-designed for Madonna for her Drowned World tour in 2001 -- the first time the singer played guitar onstage -- will be auctioned on eBay beginning on Oct. 6. After the tour Madge signed the guitar, the only survivor of two identical models made for her, and gave it to John Griswold, a veteran guitar technician (Eagles, George Harrison, Shania Twain) who served in that role on the Drowned World tour. What's in a (tour) name? In a strange twist, Griswold is parting with the guitar because his family lost most of their possessions in Hurricane Katrina -- they were living in New Orleans when it flooded. The opening bid for the guitar is $49,999. The seller says it has been appraised at $400,000-600,000. Have a look at Madonna's guitar.

Students hone guitar skills with game

Tom Padgett just started playing the guitar a year ago, but already he can play difficult songs such as "Cowboys from Hell" almost perfectly using his specialized instrument. Padgett's guitar is smaller than other guitars. Instead of strings, he strums a bar, and instead of chords he holds down buttons. Between his rock star moves and fast fingers, Padgett could be easily mistaken for a musical prodigy, but he's just one of the millions of players of "Guitar Hero," a popular video game that simulates the rock 'n' roll experience. "When I first played it, I couldn't stop for like three hours and then afterwards I was like, 'I must possess this,'" the senior in the College of Liberal Arts said. Though he was terrible at first, Padgett said he got better by playing the game several hours a day for months on end.
